Building shared practice standards within Indigenous systems transformation and decolonization consulting
Working with Len Pierre Consulting, I designed a collaborative service-design process to clarify the strengths of its approach and identify the infrastructure required to support sustainable growth, staff safety and service quality.
Working with Len Pierre Consulting (LPC), I delivered a collaborative service design process to create shared standards for the delivery of project work. As a young start-up that was mostly focused on workshop delivery, LPC needed to assess existing strengths in project delivery and come to a shared understanding of their approach, what set them apart, and what infrastructure they needed to ensure staff safety, service quality and alignment with their social impact.
I worked collaboratively with leadership to develop staff engagement that ensured service standards aligned with existing strengths and consultant needs. Following engagement and the delivery of a consulting service guide, I have provided ongoing implementation support. This work laid the foundation for more sustainable shared practice, invested in staff capacity and built essential infrastructure.
Engagement & Collaborative Design
Building collaborative responses to the toxic drug crisis
A provincial engagement initiative brought local governments together with health authorities, community organizations and people with lived and living experience to strengthen whole-community overdose response.
As project manager for Local Leadership United, I collaboratively designed and delivered a provincial engagement initiative connecting local governments with health authorities, community organizations and people with lived and living experience of substance use. The work included 27 full-day dialogues involving over 60 local governments across British Columbia. These conversations strengthened relationships, developed shared understanding and helped local leaders identify their role in community overdose response.
I also led a collaborative design process around educational and knowledge-exchange opportunities for a network of 23 community-based organizations leading grassroots overdose-response initiatives and advocacy. Together, these initiatives supported coordinated response efforts in communities around the province.
Engagement & Collaborative Design
Building safer and more inclusive healthcare workplaces
Leadership and operational staff engagement informed an internal toolkit, training opportunities and practical resources designed around the realities of the people expected to use them.
I worked with Changemark Research + Evaluation to lead staff engagement around workplace safety and supported the development of an internal toolkit around creating safer, affirming and inclusive workplaces at Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia.
Intentional engagement of both leadership and operational staff informed training opportunities and resource development aligned with organizational needs, priorities, current barriers and existing strengths.
Facilitation & Strategic Sessions
Building a shared story to empower future directions
Staff and client engagement supported Len Pierre Consulting in co-developing a shared brand story and strategy grounded in trusting relationships with clients, partners and communities.
In my work with Len Pierre Consulting (LPC), a leader in education and organizational development around cultural safety, reconciliation and decolonization, we conducted extensive staff and client engagement and co-developed a shared brand story and strategy.
This brand strategy informed the creation of a social-media strategy and various brand-development initiatives that emphasize building trusting relationships with clients, partners and communities. These conversations supported LPC in understanding who it is as a foundation for strategic decision-making.
Facilitation & Strategic Sessions
Facilitating learning around complex social issues
Hundreds of participatory sessions have helped people explore complex topics, develop shared language and consider how new learning applies to their work and relationships.
I have designed and facilitated hundreds of participatory sessions related to substance use, community safety, health equity, Indigenous cultural safety, reconciliation, gender and sexual diversity, and other critical topics.
These sessions use adult-learning principles, trauma-informed practice and a diversity of participatory facilitation techniques to help participants explore complex topics, develop shared language and consider how new learning applies to their work and relationships.
Strategy & Policy
Translating provincial engagement into policy recommendations
Learning from local governments, community and health organizations and people with lived experience became practical recommendations for strengthening whole-community overdose response.
As project manager for Local Leadership United, I synthesized learning from engagement with more than 60 local governments, over 50 community and health organizations and people with lived and living experience of substance use.
The resulting interim report identified barriers to collaboration, clarified local-government roles and offered recommendations for strengthening whole-community overdose response across British Columbia.
Strategy & Policy
Supporting an Indigenous-led partnership framework
Under LPC’s leadership, the organization’s values of respect, reciprocity and relatedness were translated into a practical framework for assessing alignment and structuring safe, trusting partnerships.
Working under the leadership of Len Pierre Consulting (LPC), I helped translate the organization’s Indigenous values of respect, reciprocity and relatedness into a practical partnership framework.
The framework clarifies how LPC develops relationships, assesses alignment and creates partnership structures that support safety, trust and mutual benefit.
Strategy & Policy
Formalizing community accountability through impact strategy and policy
A Community Impact Strategy and internal guide connected Len Pierre Consulting’s public commitments with practical structures for feedback, resourcing, decision-making and accountability.
Working with Len Pierre Consulting (LPC), I supported the development of a Community Impact Strategy grounded in LPC’s Indigenous values of respect, relatedness and reciprocity. I then translated the strategy into an internal policy and process guide defining how the organization receives feedback, assesses community-impact opportunities, allocates resources, makes decisions and reports on its work.
This included designing interconnected advisory and implementation circles, a consensus-based decision process, an annual planning cycle and clear pathways for accountability. Together, these resources connect LPC’s public commitments to the practical structures required to carry them forward.
Learning Design & Knowledge Translation
Developing curriculum around drug policy that empowers collaboration
Curriculum created a shared entry point for health providers, people with lived experience and local leaders to explore a polarizing, emotionally intense and high-stakes issue.
Working in overdose response and facilitating dialogue with health providers, people with lived experience, mayors, councillors and other leaders, I saw that conversations were challenging because people came to understand the problem from very different vantage points.
To support shared understanding among different leaders, I created curriculum that offered a new way to see the conversation, building on existing knowledge shared among learners. This offered an entry point for new dialogue around a polarizing, emotionally intense and high-stakes topic.
Learning Design & Knowledge Translation
Supporting curriculum for group-therapy programs
Learning-design and knowledge-translation support produced adaptation guidance and practical resources for clinicians serving 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous clients in different service contexts.
Working with Fraser Health Authority and Changemark Research + Evaluation, I supported the development and implementation of group-therapy curriculum serving 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous clients.
I contributed learning-design, facilitation and knowledge-translation expertise to develop knowledge-transfer documents, adaptation guidance and practical resources for clinicians. These tools supported delivery that was more responsive to different client experiences and service contexts.
Learning Design & Knowledge Translation
Collaborating to translate lived, professional and cultural knowledge into practical guidance
Knowledge Keepers, Elders, people with lived experience and content experts remained at the centre while complex knowledge became clear, accessible and practical resources.
Working collaboratively with Knowledge Keepers, Elders, people with lived experience and content experts at Len Pierre Consulting, I have led the development of practical resources on Indigenous trauma and equity-informed communication, working with Indigenous Elders, supporting Indigenous youth and other areas of culturally safer practice.
My role is to translate complex knowledge into clear and accessible language and connect foundational ideas with guiding principles, reflection questions and practical examples. This approach keeps the people who hold the knowledge at the centre while creating tools that professionals can apply in their work and relationships.
